End of Extended Post – Study Work Rights

Mar 12, 2024 | AUS | 0 comments

Starting from July 1, 2023, international graduates with degrees in certain fields where there’s a shortage of skilled workers get an extra two years on their Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

If you finished a degree listed on the Eligible Qualifications List (EQL), you might qualify for this two-year extension. If you already have a Post-Study Work visa and are eligible for the extra two years because of your degree, it’s important to apply now before the opportunity ends. Remember, only those with specific degrees can get this extension, and it won’t be available after mid-2024.

The extension was reconsidered due to changes in Australia’s economy and other factors outlined in the Migration Strategy. This means that after mid-2024, international graduates won’t be able to apply for this extension anymore.

If you have an Australian qualification and meet the study requirement, you’re still eligible for the regular Temporary Graduate (Post-Study Work stream) visa.
