143 & 870 - Parent visa

Applying as a retiree

You may apply as a retiree if you are the holder of a Retirement (subclass 410) visa or Investor Retirement (subclass 405) visa on or before 8 May 2018. Additionally, you must not have held a substantive visa between 8 May 2018 and the date which you are applying for your Parent visa. Eligible applicants applying as a retiree will not be required to provide an assurance of support, have an approved sponsor or meet the balance-of-family test.

Additional parent visa

There are additional parent visas available, including onshore parent visas. The cost of applying for a parent visa varies significantly and processing time can be lengthy. At Crystal Migration we can assess your options and determine the best possible strategy depending on your circumstances.

Subclass 870 – NEW Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa

This temporary visa will allow you the opportunity to reunite with your children within Australia for a significantly longer period of time. You will be able to reside within Australia for up to 3 or 5 years. You may re-apply for this visa for a maximum period of 10 years in Australia. Please note this is a sponsored visa, as such an eligible sponsor must first apply for and be approved as a Temporary Parent Sponsor before an 870 visa can be lodged. In most circumstances, 870 visa applicants will need to be outside Australia at the time of application.

To be eligible:

● you must be sponsored by an approved Parent sponsor

● you must be the biological parent, legal parent (inc. adoptive parent), stepparent or parent- in-law of the sponsor

● you meet health and character requirements

● you must have genuine intentions regarding your temporary stay within Australia

● you must prove that you are able to support yourself during your stay

● you must have no outstanding debt obligations to the Australian government

● you must maintain adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay
