191 - Permanent Residence Skilled Regional

This visa is a permanent visa for skilled workers who previously have lived, worked and studied in designated regional area in Australia on a previous eligible visa (Subclass 491 or 494) for at least 3 years. This visa also allows the main applicant to sponsor eligible relatives (family members).

This visa opens a pathway for Australian citizenship.

Subclass 489 visa holders cannot apply for this visa.

For you to apply for this visa, you need to:

● Hold an eligible visa (Subclass 491 or 494) for at least 3 years

● Have lived for at least 3 years and have a taxable income at or above a specific income threshold for at least 3 years (the period of stay as well as income does not have to be continuous, a period over five years may be counted)

● Both main and secondary applicant must have complied with the conditions

Once you hold a Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa – 191, you are allowed to:

● Stay, work and study permanently in Australia

● Travel as required from and to Australia

● Sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence

● Apply to become Australian citizenship it applicable

Main point to consider:

● Both main and secondary applicant must have complied with the conditions and have to hold a previous eligible visa (Subclass 491 or 494) for at least 3 years

● It is an expectation that the main applicant and their family members will continue to reside in a designated regional area.
