485 - Temporary Graduate Visa

This visa is a temporary visa for international students who have recently graduated and present skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations in Australia or hold a degree from an Australian institution. This visa also allows the main applicants to include immediate family members (e.g. spouse or children) as part of the application.

This visa may open a pathway for Permanent Residency.

Requirements

For you to apply for this visa, you need to:

● Be the main holder of a current student visa and hold the student visa in the last 6 months before you apply for this visa and now you hold Bridging Visa A or B or Substantive Visa

● Meet the Australian Study requirements

● Have skills and qualifications Australia needs

● Be under the age of 50 years old

● Considered competent in English language

● Have a degree in a CRICOS registered course

● Have adequate health insurance and meet health requirements

● Have no debts to the Australian Government

● Not have had a visa cancelled or refused while in Australia

● Undertake a skills assessment depending on the stream

*Note that holding this visa allows you to live, travel, work and study anywhere in Australia for 18 months and as long as the visa is valid

What this visa lets you do

Once you hold a Temporary Graduate Visa – 485, you are allowed to:

● Stay, travel, work and study temporarily anywhere in Australia for up to 4 years depending on the stream as well as your qualification

Restrictions

Some restrictions applied to Temporary Graduate Visa – 485:

● You cannot stay longer in Australia by extending this visa, however you may be eligible for other skilled work visas
