400 - Temporary work (Short stay specialist) visa
This temporary visa allows you as an overseas worker to perform highly specialised and short term work within Australia for anywhere up to 3 months. A longer period of up to 6 months may be granted in special circumstances. You may bring members of your family unit with you during your visit to Australia however they will not be able to undertake any work whilst in Australia.
requirements
To be eligible:
● you must have specialised skills, experience or knowledge not available in Australia.
● you must prove that you have work to complete in Australia (for example, highly specialised, project-based work).
● your work must be non-ongoing and generally not be available within Australia (for ongoing work, you should consider TSS sponsorship).
● you must have the necessary means to support your family members within Australia
● you must meet the health and character requirements
Whilst this visa does not require formal sponsorship, you must be invited by an organisation to participate in the work to be undertaken
What you can do with this visa
This visa will allow you to:
● Work only within your specialised area of work (for up to six months)
● Bring members of your family unit however work or study within Australia is not allowed (language training programs are allowable)
This visa cannot be extended or renewed whilst in Australia.
