The Migration – uplift of Visa Application Charges measure is expected to increase Visa Application Charges by $100.0 million in 2023–24 and by $665.0 million over the next 5 years. Funding is intended to generate funds for improved visa processing and governmental priorities.
The Department of Home Affairs has announced an increase in visa Application Charges (VAC) increase in fees will apply to applications made after 1 July 2023 on most visa subclasses. Visa application fees are set to increase by between 6 and 40 percent from 1 July 2023, including:
- Business innovation and investment visas will increase by an additional 40%
- Select visitor and temporary visa subclasses will increase by an additional 15% (including visitor, working holiday, work and holiday, training, temporary activity, and temporary work
- Other Visa Application Charges will increase by 6%
It is highly recommended that eligible visa applicants take proactive measures and apply for their desired visa as soon as possible to secure the current fees before the changes come into effect.
