New Skilled Refugee Labour Agreement Pilot Program

Oct 16, 2023 | AUS | 0 comments

In a step towards inclusivity and humanitarian support, a new pilot program under the Labour Agreement stream has been announced. With 150 refugees already securing jobs, the program was recently extended on 1 July to include 500 additional primary applicants and their families until 30 June 2025.

The program’s key features include:

  1. Be endorsed by the TBB
  2. Waiver of work experience and skills assessment requirements.
  3. Functional English
  4. More lenient arrangements in police checks and passport requirements. It looks like the program accommodates refugees who might face challenges in obtaining or verifying these documents.
  5. Higher age cut-off of 55

Open to 800 occupations, including all those on the 2022 Skills Priority List.

To support applicants and employers throughout this process, the Department of Home Affairs has established a dedicated team to administer the program and address any inquiries.
