How the outcome 1 objectives will benefit the Australian Society

Upon the Budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year released on 15 May 2024, the Department of Home Affairs will be working collaboratively with other departments and institutions from the Australian Government to meet financial, economic, and social objectives and Australian interests. Therefore, the Government budget has been allocated for projects that the Department of Home Affairs will conduct in collaboration with other public sectors.

The budget was allocated according to outcomes 1,2, and 3 which are nothing more than the objectives expected by the Australian Government in accordance with public interests.

Outcome 1 is based on collaborative action between the Department of Home Affairs and public sector by being responsible for the social and digital security of civils, Government, and communications. The main idea of ​​outcome 1 is to guarantee security in general by combating organised crime, human trafficking, help individuals in need, guarantee integrity and confidentiality of communications and processes of public institutions, and guarantee an effective safety for individuals and companies.

The Government bodies that will work in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs to ensure outcome 1 are:

  • Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission
  • Australian Federal Police
  • Australian Security Intelligence Organisation
  • Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre
  • Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
  • Department of Defence
  • Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Department of Industry, Science and Resources
  • Department of Social Services
  • Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
  • Department of the Treasury

The main benefits of outcome 1 for the population and business will be, for example:

  • Communications security
  • Assistance services for those in need, such as people who experience domestic violence or victims of human trafficking.
  • Ensure the security of digital communications.
  • Ensure the fight against organised crime.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of natural resources as well as water and energy efficiency.
  • Protect the national financial system.
  • Ensure compliance with the law.
