Navigating the path to becoming a Standard Business Sponsor is a detailed process which requires full attention to eligibility, obligations and the renewal process.
If approved, the renewed business sponsorship commences from the date the renewal application was approved – not the end date of the current sponsorship.
Before a business renews their sponsorship, they must notify the Department of any changes to the business since the last business sponsorship was approved. This should be done via immi account ‘complete notification of sponsorship’. You may contact your Migration Agent or Lawyer who could assist you with this process.
The Department of Home Affairs recommends business sponsors commence the Sponsorship renewal process at least 2 months prior to the expiry to ensure there is sufficient time to finalise the application.
If the current sponsorship ends while the new sponsorship is processing, all unfinalised nomination applications will be put on hold until a decision is made on the new sponsorship. Once the sponsorship renewal is approved, the Department will continue to process the nomination applications. If the sponsorship renewal is refused, the Department will refuse all unfinalised nomination applications that are not withdrawn. For this reason, it is critical that all sponsorship renewals are lodged several months in advance.
In summary, understanding the duration and renewal of a business sponsorship is crucial for the sponsor and the visa holders nominated by the business. It is essential to remain aware of the specific requirements and limitations associated with renewing a business sponsorship.
