Substantial changes were announced to the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) on 3 December 2024 with numerous occupations added and removed from the list. This was swiftly followed up on 7 December 2024 with the Australian government announcing the subclass 482 Skills in Demand (SID) visa replacing the subclass 482 Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa.
One notable occupation that was removed from the CSOL was that of Cafe and Restaurant Manager (ANZSCO 141111).
The clear message is that employers can no longer sponsor Cafe and Restaurant Managers as part of the employer sponsored subclass 482 SID visa program.
Migration Options for Cafe and Restaurant Managers
Fortunately there are potential migration alternatives for existing Cafe and Restaurant Managers that have additional, adjacent skills under the 482 SID program.
The occupations on the revised CSOL that most closely align with the skills of the Cafe and Restaurant Manager role are:
- Hotel or Motel Manager (141311)
- Accommodation and Hospitality Managers nec (ANZSCO 141999)
