Skills Assessment is of immense importance for some visa subclasses and obtaining a suitable skills assessment is a crucial first step. While the skills assessment process can be daunting, we have listed the top 4 mistakes for applicants to avoid when applying for a skills assessment.
- Providing incomplete documents
We often find we do not receive documents that cover a particular period of employment or that are proof of a qualification. You must provide evidence of all the employment periods or formal academic qualifications that you hold that relate to your occupation, not just the most recent ones. Complete documents must be provided to give the assessing authority a better idea of employment periods or formal educational qualifications that are relevant to your occupation, not only the latest ones. Without related documents, your application will be considered incomplete.
- Not supplying original language and/or English translation documents
If documents are not in English, you must submit copies of the originals as well as an English translation made by a registered translation service. Documents in the original language without a translation will not be accepted and delay processing of the application.
- Inconsistent details
Skills assessment authorities are very focused on details. If there is misleading or inconsistent with information previously submitted, skills assessment authorities may conduct additional checks and delay the process significantly. It is also important that all evidence is complete and consistent to secure a positive skills assessment.
- Incorrect Format of Documents
All identification and qualification documents must be high-quality colour scans of the original. A high-quality scan is one that is clear, legible, and should be free from poor contrast, shadow, obstruction, blurry and with no cropping or pixilation. Low quality scans or scans of a photograph using scanned applications will not be accepted and can delay the skills assessment process.
