What is IELTS One Skill Retake?
The International English Testing System (IELTS), one of the accepted English language tests for Australian immigration, is now offering a new feature called IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR). The IELTS Test includes four components: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Previously, applicants have had to retake the entire test for all four components if they were unable to achieve the required scores required for their visa. With the new system, applicants can now retake one module of the IELTS test if they are otherwise happy with the scores received for the other three modules. This is available for both IELTS Academic and General Training tests in Australia currently and will continue to be offered globally.
Format of the OSR
The format and timing of the IELTS OSR test are the same as the normal IELTS test. Applicants will receive a new Test Report Form that includes their updated IELTS One Skill Retake score as well as the results for the other three skills in the original test. Applicants can then choose whether they use their original or new Test Report Form for visa applications.
Costs
Prices for IELTS One Skill Retake can vary. The most up to date information can be found on your local test centre’s website.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants will be required to book and sit the IELTS OSR test within 60 days of the original IELTS test. However, please note that applicants can only complete one retake for each full IELTS test.
Are IELTS test results applicable to all visa subclasses? For Australian Visa purposes, the Department of Home Affairs will accept IELTS test results that include OSR for all visas except for applications with regards to subclass 476, 482, and 485. These three visa subclasses require IELTS test scores from a single sitting.
