As of 1st November 2023, short-term measures for applicants applying for further temporary visas in Australia ceased, meaning that temporary visa applicants may be required to complete a health examination.
The Department of Home Affairs implemented several regulatory and policy changes in 2022 due to the adverse impact of Covid-19. Among these changes are temporary concessions for both visa holders and applicants relating to health examinations for temporary visa applicants, aimed at streamlining temporary visa applications.
Temporary visa applicants were not required to undertake medical examinations and/or chest x-rays in order to meet the health requirement. This was applicable for all eligible temporary visa applications made in Australia which are currently lodged with the Department for certain visa subclasses.
Concessions to meet the health requirement for temporary visa holders or applicants are anticipated were temporary in nature and have now ceased as of the 1st November 2023.
Yourself and your family members applying for a visa with you might need to have health examinations.
Which examinations are required are dependent on a number of factors, including the type of visa you are applying for, duration of your stay in Australia, country you apply from, intended activities in Australia, existence of medical conditions and other special circumstances applicable to you or your family members
You may not be required to complete a health examination if you completed health examinations in the previous 12 months. You can check to see whether you are required to complete health examinations via your Immi Account or, if applied via paper form, you will be contacted by a processing officer.
