The National Innovation Visa (subclass 858) will replace the Global Talent Visa. This visa was designed for high-skilled internationals who can contribute to Australia’s economic growth by having high-skills in areas such as research, technology, and business.
The target applicants are those who are entrepreneurs, innovators, high-skilled professionals, and those who have proven a significant achievement in their field.
Applications will only be by EOI, and the applicants will have to meet the requirements, that being:
- Functional English.
- Proven achievement and knowledge in their area of expertise.
- Be internationally recognised in their field.
- Prove ability to assist in Australia’s economic growth by, for example, by developing products and services, conducting research, contributing with innovation.
- Meet health and character requirements.
- Have a sponsor or an endorser that can be either a company or a government body.
The National Innovation Visa (subclass 858) is designed to be a temporary visa. However, it provides a pathway towards permanent residency if the applicant can prove contributions towards Australia’s economy.
The benefits are that through this visa, the Australia Government will be able to attract qualified labour and support their economy in critical sectors by stimulating economic growth.
