The Victorian Government participates in the National Innovation Visa (subclass 858), a permanent residency pathway designed for individuals with internationally recognised achievements in their field.
Through this program, the Victorian Government nominates exceptional candidates to the Australian Government in an effort to attract high-calibre, high-performing individuals who can drive innovation, productivity and economic growth in Victoria and contribute to the state’s global reputation.
Receiving nomination from the Victorian Government supports your Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Home Affairs and allows you to be considered under Priority Two of the visa processing pathway.
Important Note: Nomination by the Victorian Government does not guarantee an invitation from the Australian Government to apply for the National Innovation Visa.
To be considered for nomination, you must:
- Demonstrate exceptional talent through a proven track record of significant achievements.
- Have engaged with a Victorian Government department or agency to discuss how your expertise and accomplishments will be beneficial for Victoria.
- Be referred by a Victorian Government department or agency that has expertise in your field.

- Be under 55 years of age (unless you can present a compelling reason for consideration if you are under 18 or over 55).

Victorian Government departments and agencies are authorised to identify and nominate outstanding individuals in their field of expertise. These may include research, innovation, entrepreneurship, arts, sport, and other sectors that is important to Victoria.
