The NSW Government has received an interim allocation for the 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program from the Department of Home Affairs.
NSW Interim Allocation
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): 200 places
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): 180 places
Invitation Rounds – Subclass 190 Visa
An invitation round for NSW nomination under the subclass 190 visa will take place next week while the state awaits its full allocation from Home Affairs. Applicants are encouraged to ensure their SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) is current and that they can provide valid supporting evidence for all claims if selected.
NSW Priority Sectors
Through the NSW State Migration Plan, the NSW Government is working closely with the Australian Government to align migration with shared priorities. Attracting and retaining skilled workers is central to delivering outcomes such as strengthening the care economy and increasing housing supply.
The priority sectors for NSW include:
- Construction (infrastructure and housing)
- Net Zero and Energy Transition
- Care and Support Economy
- Digital and Cyber
- Agriculture and Agrifood
- Advanced Manufacturing
Published Skills Lists
The NSW Skills Lists for 2025–26 have now been released. These lists are published at the ANZSCO unit group level, with separate lists for the subclass 190 and subclass 491 visas.
All occupations within an eligible unit group are open for NSW nomination. Occupations not included on the Skills Lists will not be considered.
Subclass 491 Visa Update
Applications for the subclass 491 visa (all pathways) are currently closed to new applicants.
