Australia Launches the New National Innovation Visa
The Australian Government has officially launched the National Innovation Visa (NIV) — a brand-new permanent visa program designed to attract exceptionally talented individuals from around the world. This exciting new pathway, which replaced the Global Talent Visa on 7 December 2024, aims to bring in the world’s brightest minds to help grow Australia’s economy, create jobs, and strengthen key industries.
What Is the National Innovation Visa?
The National Innovation Visa (subclass 858) is a permanent visa available to high-achieving individuals who have demonstrated outstanding talent, skill, and leadership in their fields. Whether you’re an established leader or an emerging innovator, this visa could offer a direct route to living and working in Australia permanently.
The program is open to:
- Global researchers pushing the boundaries of science and technology
- Entrepreneurs creating innovative products or businesses
- Investors driving innovation and economic growth
- Athletes and creatives whose exceptional abilities can contribute to Australia’s cultural and economic prosperity
Nomination and Priority Processing
Applicants are encouraged to assess their eligibility and explore nomination options available through the Australian Government. Priority processing is offered under four key categories, helping ensure top talent can contribute to Australia’s innovation ecosystem more quickly.
